Appointments: (Face to Face and Telephone)
An appointment for a standard consultation will be made with your preferred doctor or the next available doctor, depending on your preference. Appointments can be made in person, over the phone or via website. Walk-ins are welcome, however, please be aware wait times may vary. Same day appointments are available for urgent cases. A separate appointment must be made for each family member. Each appointment lasts usually around 15 mins, which might vary depending on the complexity of the case. Please note Telehealth is only available for patients who are registered and seen before in the practice with in last 12 months. Extended consultations are available on request. If you anticipate that your consultation will be long, please advise the receptionist when making the appointment.
SMS message reminders for appointment times are sent at 24 hours prior to the appointment. If you are unable to attend your appointment, please phone the clinic to cancel so that we can offer that appointment time to another patient. You can book appointment via online with your preferred GP and time. There may be a cancellation fee if we do not receive notice of your cancellation.
Home Visits during Surgery Hours
Home visits may be available for regular patients who live locally within a 5Km radius and are too ill or frail to attend our practice. These visits are generally performed during lunchtime or after the clinic has closed in the evening. Please contact us on 03 5640 2828 if you require this service.

Telephoning your doctor
Doctors in this practice may be contacted by phone during normal surgery hours. If the doctor is with a patient, a message will be taken, and your call returned as soon as possible. If your call is urgent, you will always be put straight through to the doctor.
E-Mail Communication Z Medicals does not communicate with patients about their medical conditions through email. Unless they request to do so by email. we use email for the following, patients requesting medical certificate to be emailed to them and Receiving Patient Complaints. We avoid contacting you via email due to patient privacy concerns. Patient consent is required prior to any email communication.
Referrals
Referrals to a specialist may be made during the consultation. Standard referrals are valid for one year so please ensure you book an appointment before your referral runs out.
Prescriptions
Prescriptions may be written during a consultation. If you need repeat prescriptions, we ask that you make an appointment to see one of our doctors, where the condition for which the prescriptions are written can be checked.
Results
Sometimes your doctor will order investigations such as blood tests or x-rays. For confidentiality reasons, please book in for a return appointment to discuss the results.
Fees and billing arrangements
The practice bulk billing for medical consultations. Our receptionist can advise you of costs not covered by Medicare.
If you do not have a Medicare card, you will be advised by reception of your out-of-pocket costs.
Reminder System
Z Medicals committed to preventative health care. At the time when you register at the practice your permission will be sought to be included in Practice/National/State reminder system registers (subject to informed patient consent) such as the National immunization registers. If you do not wish to participate in these reminder systems, please notify reception. Should it be determined that the patient needs to be recalled then 3 attempts at phone contact via a call or SMS will be made and if there is still no response then a letter will be sent to the last provided physical address that we have on our system. Your doctor will seek your permission to be included in our reminder system. We may issue you with a reminder notice from time to time offering you preventative health services appropriate to your care.
Confidentiality & Privacy
Your medical record is a confidential document. It is the policy of this practice to always maintain security of your personal health information and ensure this information is only available to authorized members of staff. Patients of our practice have the right to access their personal health information under the Privacy Amendment (Private Sector) Act 2000. This practice is dedicated to your confidentiality and privacy of health information. At times, the doctor participates in research, professional development, and quality assurance. This can involve the collection of patient data. However, this information is de-identified and those involved in analysis of the data would not be able to identify which patient has been included.
Patients’ Right in Healthcare
Patients have the right to request the doctor of their choice when available. Doctors can advise patients of appropriate health choice for them to make an informed decision.
Interpreter Service:
If you require an interpreter, please let us know when you book your appointment. We can book an interpreter via The Interpreter Services. This service is free of charge to patients who have a valid Medicare Card.
